The story revolves around Doree, a six-year-old endearing girl, who lives with her handicapped foster father, Ganga Prasad in the weavers’ tenement in Benaras. The world of orthodox patriarchy opens to her when she meets Kailashi Devi, the misogynistic head of the Thakur family.

Vansh reflects the misogynistic morals of Kailashi Devi.
Neelu: Ganga’s landlady
An opportunistic woman, who prefers staying in the favor of the Thakurs, even at the cost of the wellbeing of others.
